January 2 - Resort Adventures - Homeless AGAIN.... sort of!

January 2, 2022

Day 2 - 363 Days To Go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: B-52 (Kahlua, Irish Cream and Amaretto flavors)

There's running joke with Shelley and I about how many time we've been homeless in the last eleven years. It was early 2011 when we bought our first little bunch of cabins and we moved into a small camper while working on them. Kind of like being homeless.

Since 2011 we lived in:
Small camper at Cross Timbers Cabins
Cross Timbers small cabin
Cross Timbers bigger cabin
A-frame near Cross Timbers
Treehouse Resort manager's apartment
Bigger camper at the Treehouses
Rainbow Haven Resort owners house
Dentist office (in front of the Treehouse Resort)
Marina Inn owners house
Cabin 69 at the Treehouse Resort

It's not all bad but it has been a lot of moving! Hopefully, this trend will be coming to an end soon. As the weather cooperates (12 degrees last night is not considered cooperating) we will continue building our little cabin down on the new property that will become (we hope) more of a permanent landing place for us. If you'd like to see a short tour of it, watch the following video, We filmed it about two weeks before we closed on it.

January 1 - Resort Adventures - The NEXT Adventure

January 1, 2022
Day 1 - 364 Days To Go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Trail (Guatemala)

A Scouting Trip to the future Camp Run-Amuck
It's been a half a year since the last posting and mostly that's been due to an unrelenting schedule. In fact, the entire year of 2021 was one of frantic work with moments of reflection. All of that work and reflection resulted in a decision that is probably the biggest one since we started the whole Resort Adventure. The decision was that we are reaching the point where slowing down is looking more and more attractive.

So, literally less than one year after purchasing the Marina Inn, we have sold it and moving towards a "semi" retired speed. That DOES NOT mean we are stopping by any means. In fact, slowing down for us can easily include another project, just one with less pressure to keep the strenuous tourist/guest schedule.

With all that said, I'd like to introduce you to "Camp Run-Amuck! We've purchased a piece of Beautiful Southwest Missouri and plan to build a home for us there. We are starting with a small cabin to camp out in while the rest of it is under construction. That cabin site is now nick-named Camp Run-Amuck.

We've begun a YouTube video channel to document the good, bad and ugly of this project. We're having a lot of fun so far and I've included a short video so you can get a first hand idea of what we're doing. Enjoy the video and the story, This project will open up our story further than we've ever done before and we think you might enjoy seeing it.
