December 27 - Resort Adventures - Treasured Times Cruising

December 27, 2020

Day 362 - 4 Days to go
63 Days Until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Highlander Grogg (Butterscotch/Rum flavors)

This will be a little more of an extensive posting dedicated to the "Treasured Times Cruising" Adventure. "Treasured Times", a 53' Motor-Yacht, is the name of the boat our daughter Adreane and her husband Mike owns. It's one of two. The other being "Idle Hour" which is 39' in length. Idle Hour was their first step into the Motor-Yacht World, (similar to our first resort which was Cross Timbers Cabins) Adreane studied for and received her 100 Ton Master Captains license by the US Coast Guard over a year ago, which to give a perspective, Treasured Times is a 26 ton vessel.

Mike and Adreane are a couple of "Salty" Life fanatics. Every moment of spare time is spent on the ocean. Mostly the Atlantic with Idle Hour and now the Gulf Keys with both boats. They spend a lot of time fishing, but to be honest, that is mostly just enough to provide some wonderful fresh seafood for the galley. Their passion is much more. They are active in Diving, Snorkeling, Snuba Diving, Spear Fishing, Wreck Diving, Salvaging, Lobster and Crab Hunting, Sightseeing, and literally anything that is a part of the life around the Keys.

The purchase of Treasured Times was their decision to go big enough to be able to offer Private Charters. It has four private staterooms aboard and enough amenities to handle 6-8 guests for up to several days. While they are experts at life on the boat, breaking into the "Adventure Charter" business is a new.......... Well.... "Adventure" for them! They have been running informal tours with friends, and soon, family. Namely us! And we CAN'T WAIT!

The "Adventure Cruises" offer many more options than just fishing. Based in Marathon Key, they will have easy access to enough experiences to satisfy your itch for Blue Water Adventure! We plan to visit them soon and be their "guinea pigs" and test out one or two of their cruise destination options. I'm sure there will be plenty of business discussed along the way so don't get any ideas that we are doing any of this JUST FOR FUN!

If you have taken the time to read this, I am going to ask a BIG FAVOR right now. Adreane has been making some VERY professional looking video's of their progress getting Treasured Times ready for business. It includes all kinds of things including: under water repairs and maintenance, Spearing Lionfish, Catching Lobsters, Adding and lengthening their Anchor Chains, Tying off the boats in preparation for Hurricane Eta, SPending the night aboard ship while the Hurricane passed directly over them. Pulling the boat out of water for installation of under water lights and 3D side scan sonar. and........ Well, you really just need to watch them. She produces one every week and posts it to their Youtube channel.

December 26 - Resort Adventures

December 26, 2020

Day 361 - 5 Days to go
64 Days Until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Ozark Mountain Turtle (Chocolate/Caramel/Pecan flavors)

We now have an official countdown to the purchase of our next Resort. The closing is set for Wednesday, December 30......OR...... for Monday, January 4th. Wednesday is the actual date, but business factors regarding the sale/purchase exchange of business real estate may push the closing to the 4th to gain a little bit of a tax benefit. There's always something more than just "The Fun Adventure" stuff to consider. But I suppose, without taking in to account the business end of the business, the fun part would probably not be possible.

The picture is a summertime peek at the new place. You can see four of the nineteen units behind the pool. This shows four of the 2 bedroom units. Two on ground floor and two upstairs. These are the only upstairs units. all the rest are ground level. We will be walking distance from the Indian Point Marina and the wonderful fishing and recreation of Table Rock Lake. Get ready to make your reservations soon!

December 25 - Resort Adventures - Christmas Day

December 25, 2020
Day 360 - 6 Days to go
65 Days Until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Caramel Apple Strudel

Christmas Day has arrived and cold temperature along with it. With all of the work we've been doing on houses, I am really out of sync with the Resort Business. One thing I've gladly been able to avoid this winter so far is worrying about all of the water lines I'm normally baby-sitting this time of year. SO Christmas is here and we have had no time to really prepare for it. I threw together a 5 minute Christmas Tree for the office where we are living just so there would be some reminder of the season. With the beginning of 2021 just a week away, AND the projected closing on our new Resort property, I am starting to get back into the "Leisure/Recreation/Lodging mood.

Today, however, I am content to stay inside where it's mostly warm, and enjoy some rest. Along with an "across the room" view of my humble Christmas Tree.

Merry Christmas to All

December 24 - Resort Adventures

December 24, 2020
Day 359 - 7 Days to go
66 Days Until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Santa's Snack (Cookies and Cream flavor)

Last week, I was lamenting over our "In Between Resort Limbo" while we are waiting on a closing date to be set for our upcoming resort purchase. Not that we are bored and looking for something to do. There's plenty to do. It's just that I already miss all of the resort activity. Meanwhile....... To make matters worse, Our daughter, Captain Adreane, and her husband Mike are ramping up their adventure and it's killing me to not be there with them.

They've pulled their larger boat out of the water to dry dock it for a couple weeks getting all of the maintenance done and to add some nice upgrades to the boat. Enjoy this week's Treasured Times Video!

December 15 - Resort Adventures

December 15, 2020
Day 352 - 16 Days to go
75 Days Until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Santa's Nightcap (a blend of seasonal spices)

I've come to a conclusion that this "Limbo Land" we are in between resorts is not to my liking. Instead of working the Adventure, I'm working the transition between Adventures. Fixing houses, doing bookwork, getting everything ready to move once again, dealing with the depressing cold weather....... I suppose it could be worse. The reality is that we are still pushing forward with Resort stuff at the treehouses. Even though it's progress, the cold is slowing the progress.

I went for a walk when the snow was falling and took pictures of Treehouses with a winter blanket of snow. They all looked fabulous. Misty View, however, seems to just be built for snow pics. Enjoy the short video of Misty View in the Snow!

December 9 - Resort Adventures

December 9, 2020
Day 344 - 22 Days to go
81 Days Until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Highlander Grogg (Butterscotch/Rum)

Today, I am following the Adventures of Treasured Times once again. It's not often you get to see the belly of the boat but dry dock gives us a peek. New seals, new bearings, rebuilt props, new underwater lights, side scan 3D sonar and list goes on. Treasured Times will be finished shortly and back in the water once again. After that, very little will be needed to fire the rocket on the Adventure Charters.

Watch the video to see this weeks progress!

December 8 - Resort Adventures

December 8, 2020
Day 343 - 23 Days to go
82 Days Until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Lake (Colombia/Sumatra blend)

The weather for Treehouse building is beautiful. This is "Site 15". It's taking good shape now with part of the rusty metal roof installed today. To keep with the theme of this cabin, we needed a very weathered looking finish. Distressed siding, rusty metal roof and some walls, old poles for the walkway. Everything about this cabin is coming along better than I even imagined. I'm still not quite ready to reveal the "magic" behind this cabin, but it's going to be special. I believe I will even get involved in some of the custom constructed decoration features. Looks like it's almost time to bust out the Santa's Workshop tools and get to work!
