April 23 - Resort Adventures

Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Woods (Colombia/Costa Rica blend)

This evening, Shelley and I took a ride down some of the hiking trails at the Treehouse Resort. (My favorite way to hike is to ride) We were mostly looking over the 50 acres there to see what some potential "Adventure Improvements" could be made to enhance the experience of our guests. I know the treehouses themselves can be considered an Adventure, but I think we can easily add more to it.

Our brainstorming is "unofficial" at this point, but one thing I took away from our ride through the woods is that we have a lot of playground to work with. We'll see what develops from it.

Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost up the Creek (Colombia)

Believe it or not, we are back at "The Last Resort" getting one of the cabins there worked on. We started the overall project a little over a year ago with the basic reconditioning of the smaller cabins to make them livable and that went pretty quickly. Starting this week, we have taken Cabin 5 and started a more significant rehab on it. Dave and Tiffany are the "HGTV crew". They pulled some make-shift flooring and cabinets out getting the cabin ready for the improvements. The property includes a big house, seven cabins and a pool. It has a cozy community of people living there that are excited to see how the property can be made to feel more like home. This cabin will change quickly as we have a new resident moving in at the end of the month.

April 21 - Resort Adventures

Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Lake (Colombia/Sumatra blend)

It was a beautiful day at the lake today in the mid 70's. Our final weekend fishing guests checked out and we continued the work around the Rainbow Haven Resort property. In the end, the weather got the better of us and Shelley and I simply "Went Fishin'".

We fished until dusk and then built a fire and watched the sun go down. I guess this year has had one unintended benefit to it. We get to fish and enjoy campfires and sunsets a lot more than we usually do this time of year!
