Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Dark (Colombian Dark French Roast)
We have been planning to get busy with the big house at The Last Resort for quite a while now, and finally, with most of the other outdoor projects caught up, we're getting there. The boys have been bugging me to let them work on building cabinets, so that's where we started.
Being an old fishing resort, probably built in the 1950's, not much is very straight. For that reason, conventional cabinets are not much of an option. The ones we are building are heavier duty, and built in to the kitchen to accommodate the walls and floors that are not so straight or level. We have straightened and leveled as much as we can, but by building this way, at least the cabinets will function well and be nice and uniform.
It's been fun watching the enthusiasm of Brad and Jared as they get more and more creative in their thinking and construction skills. Even Karli has been getting in on the action and prepping the Livingroom walls for a new coat of finish over the old traditional knotty pine fishing cabin paneling.
This house is going to look remarkably good when complete. We are doing our best to maintain it's nostalgic look and feel throughout.
