December 18 - Resort Adventures

December 18, 2019
Day 352 - 15 Days to go
74 Days Until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Pumpkin Crème Pie (YES, it really is a coffee flavor. It is brewing at the cabin today)

The ice was still persisting to hang on the trees this morning but by noon it was falling fast. It's part of what I like about living in the Ozarks. Winter just sort of breezes in and out all winter long. It seldom sticks around for very long. Usually just long enough to give us a little taste of it then gone again.

Work continued unabated at cabin 75 at the Treehouses. When these cabins were built, they either didn't think through the functional aspects of them very well or never planned to use them much in either hot or cold weather. (I'm leaning towards not thinking them through very well) They were always hot in the upstairs and cold in the downstairs. It didn't matter what season it was. Along with all of the other upgrades we are making, one is to fix the heating and cooling. One solution we had tried out in the African Lodge Treehouse was to add a thermostatically controlled air handler to circulate warm and cool air from the lower to upper levels thereby balancing out the temperature better. It worked well in the two story treehouses so we are installing them in the cabins as well. So far, it's working really well. It will all be hidden, of course, when done. This may be the last opportunity to actually see the mechanics of it before it gets covered up.
