December 25 - Resort Adventures - Christmas Day

December 25, 2019
Day 359 - 6 Days to go
67 Days Until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Woods (Colombia/Costa Rica) It was Caleb's choice for this morning to go along with the traditional Mennonite Waffles.

Another of the Teig family Christmas Traditions is the Christmas Morning breakfast of Mennonite Waffles. SO, what are Mennonite Waffles you may be asking? Waffles covered with a semi sweet white cream sauce, blueberry compote (made from fresh blueberries of course) and then topped with Whipped Cream. The description alone is enough to put you into a food coma! There's always more than our tribe can eat, so the day after Christmas usually consist of Mennonite Waffles as well! Although this year, I believe I've been elected to cook up biscuits and gravy for breakfast on the 26th. We'll see!

After breakfast, the present opening and more coffee, the tribe was determined to go and do some fishing. Personally, I was ready for a nap. I tossed the keys for one of the boats to Caleb. Everyone raided the tackle shop for poles, bait and other gear and headed to the dock. The temperature hit 71 degrees today but I wasn't sure how the fishing would be. About two hours later, I got the typical text instructing me to head down to the dock with a bucket and some filet knives. The implication is clear that Martin gets to clean whatever their catch happens to be! OH NO!!! They who catch.... get to clean! I was happy to deliver the knives, and to me, that will also have earned me a spot at the fish fry table!

Merry Christmas Everyone from the Teig Tribe!

Adventure Quote: “Setting out is always a leap of faith, a risk in the deepest sense of the term, and yet an adventure too. The familiar and the habitual are so falsely reassuring, and most of us make our homes there permanently. The new is always by definition unfamiliar and untested, so God, life, destiny, and even suffering have to give us a push--usually a big one--or we will not go.”
