Day 89 - 277 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Lake (Colombia/Sumatra blend)
This weekend has been an interesting one. With the virus epidemic scaring people into staying home, the State decided to offer "Free Fishing" from last Thursday through April 15th. Meaning, you could fish legally without a license. The article said "so people could gather food". I guess that's a reason (as good as any other I suppose to go fishing) Anyway, without the temporary requirement to have a license, the fishing has been frantic. The "Catching" has been fairly normal. I would estimate about three times as many people are down on the island to try their hand at fishing. Of course the boat fishermen are here because the weather is nice. I presume they all have their fishing licenses by now. While business is mostly slow around the resort, the Tackle Shop was doing a brisk business. We sold out of almost everything related to basic fishing by noon today.
I wonder how many of the "Free Fishing" crowd will rediscover the pleasure of fishing and decide to continue on after the Free part is over.
