February 8 - Resort Adventures

February 8, 2021

Day 39 -  326 Days To Go
21 Days Until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: B52 (Kahlua, Irish Cream, Amaretto)

We woke up on the boat this morning but after a run to town for breakfast, the packing began and it was time to say good bye to the Keys and to Treasured Times. At least for now. We are already thinking about a return trip. Our trip was everything we hoped it would be (other than long enough) Mike and Adreane love what they do and it shows. They went out of their way to insure that we had the ocean experience that they live every time they go out on the water. Even though Lobster and Crab season was open, we chose to enjoy our time above water this round. I was perfectly content to do things that included soaking in the sun.

I did pursue one obsession while there. I vowed to try as many Key Lime Pies as I could manage. All were good but the pie at the "Hogfish Bar and Grill" on Stock Island was my favorite. As was the Seafood Enchilada I ordered there. The place was very out-of-the -way, but fabulous in terms of food and service. Stock Island is a small island just before you get to Key West.

This was my first trip into the Keys of Florida and I can see the attraction. All of the images I see in my mind when I think of adventure abounds in the Keys. (other than the "snow capped, mountain climbing" images) It would be easy to see ourselves pursuing a "Resort Adventure" project there. I'm just not sure how to bring it together as a significant part of our lives. It may have to remain as an occasional temporary get-away instead. And that wouldn't be too bad!
