Day 464 of the Adventure
I've added a new segment to the video lists down below. One having to do with earning income from your property. Obviously, when a homestead life is chosen, many of the homestead types of produce (or products) become the target of potential income. Things like selling excess garden produce, perhaps milk, eggs or even the chickens themselves. Other livestock may include rabbits, goats, guineas, ducks or other fowl. Berries, mushrooms and nuts all come to mind as well. All of these things and more, naturally come to mind on a small family homestead or backwoods property. Ramping them up to a scale that begins to provide a steady, effective and sustainable source of income can be a challenge. After all, a dozen excess eggs per day does not generate enough income to sustain much. As does a bushel of extra garden produce each week. In some ways, it may be more productive to simply figure out ways to preserve all of the excess for future use.
Our personal background originates from the recreational sector of land ownership. One that began with nightly cabin rentals for vacation purposes. From there, we began to research ways of adding income to the mix to scale up our own level of income. Each year, I tried to find and add at least one thing to our bag of income related tools. Over the years, our "side income" grew to match our primary income which was the cabin rentals. Even surpassing it on a fairy regular basis.
Over the coming weeks and months, I plan to spend more time highlighting the "Income Earning" as an intentional part of the homestead or backwoods journey. It begins with a video I recently completed involving the use of on-line hosting of events or learning experiences on your property. The possibilities are endless and requires very little added expense. Only that of being able to communicate on-line with participants in your experience. If you're interested in this as an income source and want more information....... Click Here or Scroll down to the; "Earning Income with your Property" section below and click the video link there.
