Day 878 of the Adventure

Technically there's about a month left before Spring arrives. If I were still in my multiple resort mode, however, I'd be down to only two or three days left of my 90 day countdown until Spring. March first was my unofficial, official start to Spring. It's when I was comfortable enough that cold weather was behind us to begin most of the spring activities around the resorts. It also allowed me to stop waking up in the middle of the night wondering if my cold weather measures, such as heat tapes, were doing their job preventing pipes from freezing. At Camp Run-Amuck, those are not concerns. 

I was awake at 4am and my mind was fully engaged already. Fairly typical morning. Sometimes I can force myself back to sleep but not today. By 5am it was time to simply give in, start a fire in the stove and brew some coffee. I stepped outside for some kindling and was met with the light of a full moon, or close to it. There was the sound of a rooster crowing somewhere off in the distance. I'm sure it's an hour and a half before sunrise but that didn't seem to discourage him. I guess I know the feeling. 

The main workday will hopefully begin and end during the "am hours" there's some work we are doing at the treehouses to bury a new electrical main and I'm counting on being done by noon. If that's the case, I'll be able to enjoy a 78 degree February day this afternoon. It's days like this that add emphasize to the need for getting the garden ready for planting. It's punctuated by the fact that I still have oak trees lying around on the ground there that need cut up and hauled out. For now though, I sit in mostly darkness enjoying a cup of hot coffee while the woodstove flickers light about the cabin. It's a good way to begin the day.
