Day 1,259 of the Adventure
Last night was the perfect campfire night. Really, almost every night is a perfect campfire night, but last night was the first time this spring that sitting outside by a fire didn't require the fire to drive away the evening chill. The backdrop of evening blue in the sky and the silhouette of the trees and mountain made the scene perfect. Of course, the "serene" aspect probably was sidetracked by all of the house construction activity right next to us. Nevertheless, it's an enjoyable time of the year. It's times like these that give us opportunity to reflect on our decision to move to the woods. I guess I'm perfectly suited to the quiet, slower pace of the woods. It does not bother me at all to sit for an hour at a time by a fire, simply soaking up the ambiance of the night. Owls are commonplace, there are the occasional yipping of coyotes, unknown things rustling around the leaves in just beyond the glow of the fire. Those unknowns are usually, racoons, possums, armadillos and even skunks. I'd be happy if the skunks stayed on the far side of the canyon, but even they find their way here sometimes. Another spring is on our doorstep and I'm looking forward to it.
