Day 4 - 361 Days to go
56 Days until March 1
I made just a little headway at the next batch of cabins today. There is still a ways to go before we can begin to figure out how best to put them to use. The picture was taken a few years ago there when we mostly had nightly guest rentals there. The property has several possibilities. It has a big house, seven cabins and a big pool.
We actually bought these in 2012 and were getting ready to begin renovations in 2014 when the treehouse property interrupted all of that. As the treehouses began to gain a momentum of their own, we planned to start up again in 2016. Then the Rainbow Haven Resort interrupted the project again. We had actually gutted out the interior of the cabin you can see in the picture behind where Shelley is sitting. It was slated to receive a rustic cabin exterior with stone and logs with a big jetted tub inside. And there it has set every since.
In 2017, we were approached by a couple who wanted to purchase it and start a "Resort Adventure" of their own. That lasted close to two years and then they decided to expand their logging and sawmilling business near Kansas City so we went back to square one......again!
I've been trying to judge the "climate" in the town before deciding exactly how to proceed. I know that we could make nightly cabins work there. I'm just not sure if it's the best investment of resources. I guess one way or the other I'll need to begin pretty soon. I think it would be an easier decision if we had fewer options. (That sounds odd coming out of my head)
Anyway, I'll be heading up the hill in a little bit to take another look.
We may have hit a "Terminal" roadblock on our "Project X". It seems that financing has come to a standstill and being January already, I'm not sure we have the time to initiate something new in time to be ready for the 2019 tourist season. Probably going to have to put that one on hold for now.
Stand By for Updates.
