Day 3 - 362 Days to go
57 Days until March 1
57 Days until March 1
This is what the first couple of weeks of January usually looks like. You probably thought that the Resort Life was all fun and games and fishing, boating and swimming pools. Sometimes it is, but we save that for the Spring and Summer! Actually, this is the beginning of tax time for us and even though we start in January, We're usually not done with it until September.
So even though we have lots of paperwork to do, It doesn't stop the "roll up the sleeves and grab some real tools" work that needs to continue.
Today we were also involved in more carpet laying. Which is getting very close to the top of my "Avoid at All Costs" list. (right behind cement work and drywall) The variety of work and tools necessary to run resort properties can be staggering. More than enough to make any HGTV show "superstar" jealous. IF...…… you are looking for a good, legitimate excuse to buy more tools, buy a resort first. Get that out of the way and you will never need another reason to go to the store to buy tools. Every week you will need something else.
For example, I thought I had everything for laying carpet. Then I discovered that they made a tool for cutting tack strips. Who doesn't need one of those. I also learned that where we buy carpet always has a rebate on carpet pad equal to the price of the pad, and also equal to the square footage of carpet purchased. Since carpet is usually larger than the room but you can't really buy in the exact size but only in the length necessary and the full width. We accumulate more pad than necessary. Today we now have a full roll of "Free" carpet pad left overs. Does this qualify as "Resort Adventures"?
I'm going to say...… Yes it Does!
