Day 53 - 312 Days to go
7 Days until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Pumpkin Cream Pie ( I KNOW...… It's an "Autumn Flavor", But on a rainy damp day it kind of feels like Autumn..... I'm glad it's almost Spring)
Once again I started the day with two or three specific things in mind to do. Only to have the whole plan tossed out the window because of the weather forecast AND the fact that the utility company showed up without warning today to connect things up at a couple of the "Last Resort" cabins. The weather became an issue because it looks like periodic rain for a few days and I had to dodge all that to get a load of Knotty Pine paneling picked up and hauled in. AND, even though I worked my trip to miss the rain...….. I still got rained on!
I think there is a fishing tournament going on this weekend. We have a bunch of rooms rented and several boats. Plus there are some seriously hard core looking boat rigs and fishermen launching out even though it's been drizzling rain all day. Some of our Rainbow Haven Resort guests are here this time every year and will be coming in tonight for the weekend. These are the guys that INSIST on jumping in the pool while they're here. Several of them have double checked with me by phone to make sure there's water in the pool. I'm sure I'll get a video of it again this year for all to see!

The Last Resort Project: Getting a load of tongue and groove knotty pine is always a good sign on one of our cabin or treehouse construction projects. It doesn't really do anything of substance...…. Except make everything look REALLY GOOD! I'll be posting a lot of pictures in the coming days showing how much difference it makes when getting installed. The other event that occurred today was the electrical service getting connected to a couple of cabins. This will allow the repairs, maintenance and general improvements to begin on two more cabins. It's important because they have been largely neglected for the past couple of years and the wear and tear was definitely beginning to show. Two years ago, many of these cabins were in use as nightly rentals and had quite a nice, dedicated customer base. Even though these could once again serve as nightly vacation cabins, I'm not sure that it's what we will plan for them at this time. But that could change.
More to come...…………
