Day 83 - 282 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Dark (Colombia Dark French Roast)
The weekend is drawing to a close and I'd say it went about as expected. The first weekend of Spring and we had temps in the 70's on one day and thunderstorms on other days. The Trout fishing was a little fickle although a lot of them were caught in the small harbor inside of the island. Makes me wonder if the Department of Conservation released some without telling me (They've been known to do that) The Crappie fishing on the other hand was outstanding. From the time they move into the shallows, they are usually here for three to four weeks.
Our regular guests "The Fish Slayers" were determined to catch trout. They struck out for the first time EVER. I told them to get in around the docks for some Crappies but they had their heart set on Trout. SO their fish pic this time consist of my light up Christmas fishes.
We also entertained a group of Students from Iowa State University which is only a few minutes away from my home town. They had never been on a boat and were excited to run one of ours up and down the lake for a while. There were too many of them so they took turns with part of them waiting by a big bonfire in a drizzling, misty rain. At the end of it, all were wearing smiles and were glad the real rain held off long enough to let them experience a little bit of Ozark scenery.
I finally made it to the lake today to get a little fishing done. I didn't get far, just to the dock, but it was fishing and yes I did catch one. Part of the good thing about a Resort Adventure is that you get to be near a lake (in this case) Part of the bad part about a Resort Adventure is that you may be close enough to throw a rock in it but have a hard time getting there on some days. But other days...………
