Day 134 - 231 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost up the Creek ( Colombian)
Today was one of those "anti-climactic", "non-spectacular" days that just happen every once an a while. For all the good plans I had planned for, everything...… and I mean everything unraveled into a day full of "anti-climactic", "non-spectacular" stuff! Perhaps the most exciting part of the day was swatting at an invading horde of ants in the tackle shop (office). I guess they really don't need much to keep themselves busy. I think it was simply a soda can in the trash. Whatever it was, they seem pretty determine to excavate it out and haul it home.
There was one small source of entertainment today down by the ramp, and don't ask me to explain it. Either they are practicing for if the island ever catches fire..... or, they think the water level has dropped too low...….. or...…. I don't know. But they've been at it for an hour or more so I suppose they mean to be doing whatever it is they are doing! (they could have been power washing my decks...…. Maybe I'll ask next time!

The Last Resort Project: All of the day's interruptions ended any chance of me working up the hill today. However I did hear that the old burned out house across the street from Cabin 6 came up at the Aldermen meeting last night. Evidently the owner was going to donate the property to the city but has now changed his mind so who knows how much longer it will sit there mostly burned down. Ironically, this month is the five year anniversary of it catching fire. Maybe we'll shoot for ten.
I actually did some research and think I've stumbled into the true source of the fire and I wrote about it in my "Ghost of Mrs. O'Leary's Cow" story you can read by clicking the link.
“Ghosts!” gasped Alice. “Real, live ghosts?”
“No! Not ‘real, live ghosts!’ Spooky, dead ghosts!”

By the way. I thought I saw one of our Traveling Coffee Cups on the Weather Channel this morning. In fact, Jim Cantore had the perfect look on his face as one would have when that "scene stealing" cup shows up where it's not supposed to be!
