Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Highlander Grogg (Butterscotch/Rum)
It felt like 3,000 people descended upon us today. The annual July 4 celebration is the biggest event by far in Rockaway, where three of our resorts are located. It feels very festive even though I seldom get to stray very far away from the Rainbow Haven Resort. Most years there is simply too much going on here to even break away for a few minutes. This year is different due to the lake levels being low. Boats can't get in and out of the docks, ramp or bay. Meaning all of my boat activity and nearly all of the gas sales have come to a standstill. However we still have the best fireworks vantage point in town and its right from our pool. If you look closely at the picture, you will see the top of the chain-link fence that surrounds our pool. This pic was taken from a pool lounge chair. Later on, I enjoyed the fireworks from in the pool itself.
