Day 222 - 143 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Fog (Guatemala Decaf)
After everything that went wrong yesterday, it was nice to have a slow paced day today. All the rooms and cabins are full no one is checking in. we do have a number of boats out today but once they're out, I don't have to think about them. The morning started with a huge fog bank that I wondered if it would ever lift, but eventually it did. Our fishermen/boaters had mixed luck on the lake today. I think the biggest factor is what they are used to. Many try to fish this part of the lake like they would a stream or faster water or shallower water. To me, this lake has two distinct trout fishing environments in it. The upper few miles of the lake needs to be treated like a river or stream. The lower two thirds of the lake needs to be fished like a lake. Sometimes that's a hard transition to make especially if anglers are used to one area and are trying something new.
I stress trolling a lot on this part of the lake and people that give that a serious try are typically rewarded with a limit of fish. The family out this afternoon for example did just fine.
