Day 224 - 141 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Dark (Colombian Dark French Roast)
A little bit of "Snake Charming" worked it's way into the Adventure today. While we were cleaning up some excess tree limbs and working around the Last Resort, we heard a...….. shall we call it a scream??? Or something loud from the direction of the brush pile. Before I could even turn around and look, Brad had already scrambled down off of a cabin roof and disappeared around the corner in a cloud of dust. We found Jared dancing around in a tight circle keeping something corralled in the grass. As it turned out, it was about a three foot black snake. (One of the friendly ones) I'm not sure that anyone at the wanted it's company even though they are typically friendly. Once the excitement died down, not to mention the heart rates, Brad carried it to the other side of the road and turned it loose. Brad being Brad, had to do a little snake charming first. I honestly don't know what he was trying to accomplish but no one died Snake or human so I guess his charming skills worked.
I personally tangled with a couple of red hornets. I won the first round but the hornets won the second one. One of them tagged me right above my eye. I told the boys that if I'm going to be setting examples of how to do things, then they need to get over into the hornets and get stung in the face as well. They didn't act like they were willing to follow my lead on that! Kids these Days!!!
Cap'n Ray made an appearance today before leaving for someplace cool (I guess anyway) While there, he offered up some helpful advice on snakes and hornets...… from a distance.
