September 16 - Resort Adventures

Day 259 - 106 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Fog (Guatemala Decaf)

I believe most people dread Monday mornings. At the Resorts, I actually look forward to it. Monday is normally a quiet day from a business point of view and its usually slow for guests. After Summer vacations are mostly over, the weekends get really busy for fishing and just getting away to play, but week days means we can either catch some rest or get things done. Since we've been on such a push at The Last Resort, I'm glad to have the time to basically shut everything else down and go to work.

The Last Resort Project:
This project has been developing since last winter. It had been a "back burner" property for a couple years and was needing some serious attention pretty badly. We started with identifying problems with water, electrical and cleaning. None of them were all that bad but it doesn't take much to shut down the use of a unit when things start breaking down. Once the critical stuff was operational again, we started working on the cosmetic things. We had actually been renting some of the units out a couple years ago as nightly rentals to fishermen and families looking for economical lodging. It was a little sad to see those units degraded to the point where they needed so much work. We have decided to make them all available as housing and I have managed to find some of THE BEST residents I could ever hope for to live here. They have become a small community within a community. The property is showing signs of it too. What had been looking pretty desolate just a few months ago is now looking bright, clean and vibrant. Some of it has been me but most of it must be credited to everyone living there who are turning the entire place into their home.
