Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Lake (Colombia/Sumatra blend)
We began a big push at The Last Resort today. The heat nearly killed us I think. It was in the upper 90's and there was NO SHADE where the boys and I were working. At one point during the day a skinny shadow from a nearby telephone pole passed close to us and I found myself standing in it's shade several times. It wasn't much, but it was shade. The "push" is for the main house completion. My goal is to get the renovations that we started last Spring done by the end of October. It started with replacing the front deck. The old rickety one was doing it's best to do a sit and roll over impression. I wasn't around when it actually accomplished it's feat. I'm pretty sure Brad and Jared helped it along!
By 9am, the old deck was down and soon there were new post holes, posts and framing going up. Had I been any slower, I may have missed getting a pic of the old deck lying on the ground in pieces. Youth and Vigor is a wonderful thing. I'm not sure where mine went, but the boys seem to have enough to get the jobs done. I was determined to keep up with them, and did, but I can honestly say that my "Working all Day in the Heat" days are probably over. I can maybe still do it, but I'm not too sure that I want to! We made good progress but were still only about half done when the day was over.
