Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Woods (Colombia/Costa Rica)
One of the unique experiences we've had over the years at the Treehouse Resort has been the interesting wildlife that lives around there. The variety includes all of the normal woodsy critters, but it also includes a colony of White Squirrels. (Pat's swears we have "Squatches" there too, but I've only seen circumstantial evidence of it)
The squirrels are not albino, even though that's the first thing that comes to mind. They are actually a genetic white with dark eyes and some with patched of gray or even black on them. I've seen at least one that is pure white with black ears. (I can't tell if the one in the pic is one of that style or not) Anyway, the white squirrel population are permanent residents at the treehouses and give our guests a thrill when spotted and photographed.
Keep your eye out for them when you visit. (And make sure to get a picture of the Sasquatch if you see him. If nothing else so I can quit calling Pat "crazy")
