So to continue along with yesterday's post...... I spent a good part of the long weekend loading fishing tackle items up on to the Base Camp Fishing website. (The Web Store to be exact). Once the Resort Experience gets rooted, it's really hard to ignore parts of it....... like fishing gear, for example. Fishing is such a core part of the resort experience. At least it always was for me. As we began developing the idea for the "Base Camp" brand, fishing tackle and outdoors products seemed to be an obvious fit. So as of this past weekend, the Base Camp Fishing part of our brand is officially launched. I would be honored if you took a minute and checked it out for yourself.

Day 334 - 32 Days to go Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Salty Caramel (One of the specialty flavors we are trying out...... Sorry.... This one is not for sale yet)
The end of November is tomorrow and it usually accompanies the beginning of my 90 Days 'til Spring countdown. There's a lot of things wrong with this, namely, Spring does not start in 90 days. It's just been my coping mechanism with the fact that the Resort business becomes pretty slow for the next 90 days but picks up quickly once March gets here. Another thing wrong is that the next 90 days will be the "Cold 90", and I don't much care for that.
This year, however, I think it's going to be a little different. I think 90 days are going to pass by very quickly. If I were to create a list for the winter, it would include minor renovations of several houses. Getting the new resort bought and moved into. (which will likely happen sometime in late December) Plus, with all of that, we are going to be building a new Fishing Tackle Shop near one of the biggest and busiest Marina's in the area, ALONG WITH setting up a Fishing Tackle Online Web Store. All of that might normally be a six month process but we don't have six months to work with. So this year's 90 Days 'til Spring countdown is going to be a challenge.
The Web Store is where my attention has been focused this Thanksgiving Day weekend. None of the family are available for celebrating Holidays, so, what else is there to do? I enjoy messing with the fishing tackle anyway. It's kind of like playing Christmas with grown up stuff. (If you call fishing tackle "grown up stuff") The picture is what it looks like around the office as I cart stuff in and out getting it loaded up on the Website. In the pic file of my computer, I titled this picture "Web Store Mayhem". Fits pretty good too.
If you are a fisherman or fisher-girl, you will want to subscribe to the Base Camp Fishing updates on the right. About every two weeks we are running a special on something and it usually includes some FREE tackle. Subscribing is the ONLY way you will get notifications of the Specials.
So........

Day 333 - 33 Days to go Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Woods (Colombia/Costa Rica blend)
As the year is winding down, we are still busy at the treehouses. It never really stops though. Right now we have nearly all of the framing done on the next treehouse. (I'm not quite ready to reveal the name and theme of this one yet. But it will be FUN)
Treehouse building is an Adventure in and of itself. Building a Treehouse Resort with many designs, cabins, customers, staff and many, many moving parts is an adventure on a whole new level. It was once just a dream and now it is a daily reality. I couldn't be any more pleased with the group working here. They treat the property like their own and the guests like family.
When you come to Branson, take at least a few minutes and drive through if nothing else. You'll be amazed!

Day 332 - 34 Days to go Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Cranberry Cream (Just like it sounds)
26 Tons of "Pure Fun!" That's what my daughter Captain Adreane Culotta calls it!
With our "Resort Adventure" on hold for a little longer, I find myself obsessed with another Adventure in the making. Our kids, Michael and Adreane Culotta, are right in the middle of launching their new Charter Business. I mistakenly referred to it as a "Fishing Charter" once and was promptly corrected. Their vision embraces much more than fishing (Although you can certainly catch a fish........ or spear a fish ..... or hunt a lobster, or video a reef ....... or dive a ship wreck) Well, you kind of get the idea! Anyway, while they are having the time of their life in the South Florida Keys, I am stuck here in the mid-west experiencing progressively colder weather.
But before their Adventure really takes off, there are things to do. Namely a weekend in drydock for annual maintenance and upgrades which include side scan sonar and under water lights. Today's Adventure includes a video of the process and as always, a fascinating journey to watch.
And yes, Our Resort Adventure is in the process of continuing. It looks as if there will still be about one more month before the closing date on the next installment! Meanwhile, Enjoy the Adventures of Treasured Times.....

Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Highlander Grogg (Butterscotch/Rum flavors)
Today, we'll take a look at this past weeks Adventure aboard "Treasured Times" (our kid's Adventure Charter business in the Florida Keys)
I suppose the Treasured Times Charter is not technically a "Resort" but you cannot deny the Adventure part of it. I think that what they are doing on the ocean is every bit in line with our Adventure Tradition. I am really looking forward to taking a trip to the keys and spending a little time aboard the boat.
This weeks video episode was filmed last week during the landfall of Hurricane Eta. Enjoy the video and if you are ever planning a trip to the keys looking for some excitement, look them up!

Day 319 - 47 Days to go Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Woods (Colombia/Costa Rica blend)
The Treehouse construction process has begun once again. I think we discovered something with the previous "Gold Rush" treehouse cabin that bears repeating. We will never repeat a theme or entire design, but there is a concept hidden in these unique cabins that is worth repeating. BUT........ for now, it's a SECRET!
All I can say about this for the moment is...... watch the roof lines and architectural detail in the design. There's a clue there!
Adventure Quote: “No, no! The adventures first, explanations take such a dreadful time.”
Day 318 - 48 Days to go Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Trail (Guatemala)
Today marks the beginning of the continuing Resort Adventure. After dozens upon dozens of real estate deals over the years, I'm too seasoned to say this is a "Done Deal". However, Shelley and I received signed contracts today for the purchase of two additional properties comprising a Resort and an Events Center. Getting something to the "signed contract" stage is a good sign though, so a lot of the hard work is done.
So..... the countdown has begun, we expect the closing to occur sometime in late December so the details will be sparse between now and then. Subscribe to the updates using the form to the right if you don't want to miss anyything as it's happening!
