Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Lake (Colombia/Sumatra)
Today was our first day on the property at the Marina Inn. Shelley got a sunset picture from the front yard. Most of the day was spent trying to figure out what keys went where. Then we went to figure out what water valves did what. The property was winterized in December so now we get to figure out the de-winterizing process on at least part of it. It's like some kind of super puzzle. I managed to partially flood one of the rooms by removing a heat element from a water heater I thought was empty but wasn't. Other than that, the day was actually very productive. New properties are always a little bit of a mystery. The bigger they are the more mysterious. I already feel like we've conquered about 70 percent of those mysteries and that feels good. Tomorrow will be another day and we will begin to test all of the equipment!
On an interesting note, I received several requests for reservations today. Even though we do not plan to open until the end of February, we will have a couple of rooms open before that. Looks like it's off to a good start.
