Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Trail (Guatemala)
I remember a day a couple of years ago. We were at the Rainbow Haven Resort then and I was moving a boat out of the marina and hit something hard enough to kill the boat motor. I raised the motor and there was noting there. The motor started again like nothing was wrong. As I began to back up, I hit whatever was there once again. This time I reached down into the water and found a half inch steel cable hung up on the prop. I untangled it and pulled, tugged and did my best "heave ho" to pull it out. By the time I had wrestled it out of the lake, It was about 150 feet long. I remember the panic when the prop first started chattering against an unseen and unknown hazard. It turned out okay that day. This week, Our daughter Captain Adreane had a similar experience only with a much bigger boat. After it was all said and done, they finished off the day with Chef Buttercup cooking steaks.
