Day 396 of the Adventure

Getting work done around here in the waning days of Autumn is like walking a tightrope. There are only so many days of decent weather left to do critical things like staining. At the same time, there are things that need done before staining can take place. So, each day is a re-evaluation of priorities. After everything dried out from the rainy weekend, we got the first coat of stain on the west side of the cabin and the second coat on the south side. Now, the problem is the final side, the north side needs siding but being on the down hill side, it's pretty tall up to the peak. It's also where the back deck will be which will make a great platform to work from.......as soon as a deck gets built. You see the struggle. LOL. Betting on mostly mild weather in the south Missouri Ozarks through November is usually fairly safe. Still, temps and sunny days are going to need to be somewhat generous with us. This cabin building, and everything else that goes with it, is turning into a sprint to the finish, with the finish line being the setting in of cold weather.

So yes, a deck would be a nice place to sip coffee and stare into the woods. In this case, that is the secondary benefit. Beginning tomorrow, we down-shift to deck building mode. Hopefully, the task will not put more than a couple day worth of delay in the completion of the siding. Onward........
