Day 395 of the Adventure
We took a detour from the siding work today to let it dry out a bit from the rain before staining more of it. Looking ahead, there is only the back side of the cabin remaining that has not had siding applied. It's taller because it's the downhill side and I've not been too excited about going up and down an extension ladder to install all of it. We are planning a deck there which will give us a platform to work from much higher off the ground. So, with nothing better to do, we began rounding up materials for that. Most of it came from a project we had started last Fall. One that we ended up getting ahead of ourselves on a little bit. It's become an unusable project but contains a bunch of treated lumber. Perhaps someday we will share our story on that........ But not today. Anyway, after dismantling everything and hauling it back to the cabin area, I believe we have enough to get the main structure of the deck done.
Autumn marches on and we are losing the rustic oranges and yellows now. Most of everything that remains is just getting brown. As one of my recent Adventure Quotes read “It looked like the world was covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon.” Still beautiful, just not as vibrant as a week or two ago. It's amazing how fast time fliers when there's so many things to get done. At some point we still have a bit of water line that needs buried. The cabin and utility building siding remains along with a few other odds and ends outside before we can call the fall project season complete. For now though, mornings sitting close to the wood stove's warmth is an awesome way to start the day before heading out to gain more ground on the Cabin in the Woods......
