Day 400 of the Adventure

With the leaves almost all gone from the trees now, we are beginning to regain a view of our mountain. It disappeared from view back in the Spring and has now returned. I guess it's not technically "Our" mountain, but we claim it anyway. Its footprint does make it onto our property just a little. I guess it ends at our canyon and waterfall where the slope starts back uphill towards the cabin. While it does have an official name, Shelley keeps trying to rename it something else. I think it plays an interesting role in our summertime climate. The mountain lies to our north and the lake is to our west. We noticed all summer that even though the summer breezes were typically from the south, they actually seemed to be arriving from the north. I think what happens is the south breeze is slightly blocked by yet another mountain to our south. As the breeze blows in from the south, it crosses the lake and our big mountain to the north funnels it up the valley right to our back yard. Maybe it's just my imagination, but it also feels like it has a slight "Lake" freshness to it. Again, maybe that's just my imagination. Nevertheless. I think our two mountains conspire to give us a great experience here and if not for redirecting the summer breezes, then for the view we get to enjoy.
