Day 435 of the Adventure

Last night included a mix of gentle rain in between spells of thunder and lightning. It was great sleeping weather, even the blasts of thunder that were close enough to shake the cabin. For the most part, a night like that is a welcome treat in December. I'll take a Spring-like thunderstorm over an ice storm or blizzard any time.

The morning brought with it the next treat. A roaring sound coming up the hillside from behind the cabin. Our little dry stream was thundering itself. We've caught a trickle of water there before, but this morning it was running like I had not seen since we moved here. What little rain was still falling had to be ignored. I grabbed Shelley's good camera and headed over the hill. I've hopped the creek before, but today my hopping spots were all far too wide. After making my way upstream a little ways, I found suitable crossing and worked my way through the brush and woods to where all of the little waterfalls originate. Continuing my way down to the larger one, I considered how fortunate we were to find a place like this. Here's to rain on the roof at night. Here's to streams thundering down the valley. Here's to having an excellent adventure and may the stopping never start!
