February 13 - The Campfire Trail - Might Not Eat Today (Bigfoot Video Included)

February 13, 2024

Day 865 of the Adventure

I seldom drag unsuspecting people into my stories, but today is an exception. As I was writing yesterday's entry involving snow, a post alert popped up on my screen. It was from my good friend Pat, a retired Missouri Water Patrol Officer and camp worker at our treehouses for a number of years. He and his wife Betty are the endearing sort of folks you just like to be around. Good natured, always smiling and ever-ready to share a good story or experience about life. Perhaps someday, I'll have to share Betty's "Boots" story here.

Our Friends Pat and Betty
Pat is a Bigfoot enthusiast among other things. I've never been able to discern if he's serious or joking about them. I may indeed never figure that out. Once in a flash of inspiration, we decide to shoot a "Bigfoot Encounter" video. We recruited Shelley and Betty into the filming of it. Pat, Betty, Shelley and I had set up in one of the campsites at the treehouses to document our harrowing tale. It may have been more convincing had the women followed their script and not burst into laughter every few moments. Flinging the rocks into the scene on cue would have helped too. What can you expect from volunteers! Nevertheless, we managed to capture the essence of a typical Sasquatch encounter, at least when using the standard of the TV shows featuring Bigfoot hunters. I must honestly admit that I had never heard Pat laugh as much as the  filming of that "Bigfoot Interview" generated.

I believe Pat may have stepped in it today though. I received this; "Done hit Betty with a snowball. Might not eat today". This is EXACTLY what I would expect from Pat and likely what I would expect from Betty as well. Just know that the two of you made my day and you're both welcome at our fire any time!
