Day 912 of the Adventure
A big part of the backwoods life is learning to slow down to the proper "pace" of it. Even back in the woods, it's easy to get distracted with the to-do lists that, so far, are never-ending. Tonight, Shelley built a nice fire out back as we were soaking up one of the first really mild evenings of the year so far. My chair was facing the west towards the sunset and between me and the sun, sat our cabin. While admiring everything about the evening, I was again reminded of why we began this journey. At least part of the reason anyway. I know, we talk a lot about the independence of self-sufficient living and the peace and quiet of nature. I suppose the biggest attraction though, are things like sitting by a fire and absorbing the ambiance of the approaching night sights and sounds. Owls, frogs, even the bugs do not qualify as "Noise" out here. It's all part of what makes backwoods living worth it.
