Two years ago today we began the framing of our Utilities Control Building. It's the building that currently contains all of the incoming and outgoing power that feeds in and distributes out to the property. We hoped we would have either some grid or some solar power before starting the cabin. Unfortunately, neither of those options came together. We ended up using the building initially to store tools as we were not living on-site yet. Being a small 8x12 structure, it did not take long to complete. 

Recently on a video, Shelley and I were discussing the fact that we had done all of this in our 60's. At the time, we were 60 and 62. Right away, we received a comment questioning our sincerity at doing all of it ourselves. Surly a couple of geriatrics couldn't be doing EVERYTHING themselves, could they? In our case, yes, we did it all (with one exception of seven days when our kids helped us roof the cabin) It's been a fun and challenging adventure and we are not done yet.
