May 9 - The Campfire Trail - Shelley's Garden

Day 951 of the Adventure

I call it "Shelley's Garden" because she has now adopted it as her favorite space on the property. I think anyway. I don't think she was as excited about it while we were cutting down trees, building fence, building raised beds, spreading rock, or any of the other dozens of little tasks needed to get it to this point. Once we had built a fire in the firepit and there were flowers in the greenhouse, everything changed. (See a Quick Garden Tour Here) I'll have to admit that it is a pleasant place to spend some time. Our primary firepit closer to the cabin is getting much less attention this Spring. Actually, who even needs a firepit in a garden space?????? Who Cares! Our intention was not to make a space that was a tedious, work only, kind of environment. It's utilitarian for sure, but it's also meant to be a place of relaxation where a cup of coffee by a fire is not unusual. I am very ready for the heavy work to be behind us now and the more leisurely activities of building some hydroponics components and watering systems make it to the top of the list. Shelley is already prepping for flower production in the greenhouse. I have no doubt there will be plant baskets hanging on every fence post very soon. This was a good choice!
