Day 966 of the Adventure


I've been having more fun with our tiny vegetables than I probably should. I don't know why they fascinate me the way they do. Today was the discovery of the little pickles. Of course they are not pickles yet, but still, they are projecting their pickle-ness to me enough where I can almost taste them. I suppose it's all part of our new determination to create self-sufficiency in our lives. It can't just be simple for me. Once embarked upon, everything I do becomes a challenge to be conquered. This implies the need for a tenacity beyond simple gardening. We have acquired close to 100 canning jars and I'm determined to fill as many as I can in our first growing season. In addition to canning, we've also ordered a Freeze Dryer which will be a food preservation experience I've never experienced before. The best part is that it's all just beginning.
