Saying Good-Bye to the "White" Stuff - February 24 - The Campfire Trail

February 24, 2025

Day 1,242 of the Adventure

A week ago today, we were on the verge of getting 16 inches of snow and eight below zero temperatures. It turned out to only be 6-7 inches of snow, but we did reach eight below zero. Being this late in the winter season, I was sure it wouldn't last. Today we are in the 60's and planning to work in the garden, preparing it for spring planting. If you look carefully, you can see the greenhouse in the distance over the top of the Jeep. The snow is essentially gone now. What little is left will certainly not make it through the day today. The sights, sounds and "feel" of Spring is here and I think it might be here to stay. We'll be removing a couple small trees that shade the solar panels, removing the last bit of tomato plants still standing, bringing in some natural fertilizer (chicken poo) and some fresh compost to bolster the fertility of the raised beds. Whether it is or whether it isn't (Spring), today will be a spring-cleaning type of a day.

Carry On

Adventure Quote: “If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome." ― Anne Bradstreet
