Garden Clean Up - February 25 - The Campfire Trail

Day 1,243 of the Adventure


We spent part of the day yesterday cleaning up the garden. There's not a lot left to do there before we can start planning the planting. The fire was what was left of the tomato plants from last year. When we started the house building project last fall, everything else came to a standstill, including clearing out the garden beds. Now, we're poised to begin another growing season. I know I'm a little pre-mature with it. There are still a few weeks left before we can safely begin, but it's encouraging to feel the place beginning to come alive again. 

While we wait for the season to get a better foothold, I think we're going to spend the day working on the woodshed. There's still another cement pad to pour and temps in the 70's today will make that a good small project to complete. The whole backwoods life includes with it, a never-ending list of chores and projects. I've mentioned before that these projects are the substitute for my fitness program. The added benefit is that I have the pleasure of doing things out in the woods in nature at the same time. It's hard to beat that combination. I'm pretty sure that a fire will be a part of today's activities.
