Day 1,270 of the Adventure
A couple days ago, I shared a picture and some thoughts about the peace and quiet of the night-time experience at the Backwoods Bug-Out. I'm adding one more thought as this season's worth of work is coming to a close. The Backwoods Bug-Out is an off-grid retreat that our kids are building. They arrive from down south every few months to do some work, play in the woods and just escape from a more frantic work pace for a while. We usually try to spend at least a couple days with them, helping and playing. The past two work cycles have been disrupted by our own "Campfire Trail" workload. Still, we've taken a little time to move and set up a fuel tank, ride around the woods, do some target practicing and just hang out. The Bug-Out now consists of four shipping containers and a large, nice deck built upon the top of one of them. Mike and I call it a deck, Shelley calls it a target practice platform, Adreane calls it a deer stand. I guess it's a multi-purpose platform. Before we left the other night, I caught this picture of the landing. A space that was too steep and rugged to drive on with even the most stable vehicle when they started. Now it's an inviting space, easy to relax upon and enjoy as the sun sets to the west.
