It's the Little Things - March 23

Day 1,269 of the Adventure

I know it doesn't seem like much, but stairs are amazing when an old guy like me has been stumbling up and down into and out of the basement hole for months now. Let me explain. Last fall we dug a big house sized hole next to our cabin. The intention was to have a full basement when everything was complete. on the downhill side, the depth is only about 4-5 feet deep. Still, that's 4-5 feet of climbing down into and up out of a rugged, raw dirt wall. Or walk all the way to the far end of it to enter and exit via the ramp we built into it for the tractor to drive in and out. There would be an outside entry on the back corner closest to the cabin with a stairwell. In an attempt to make things easier, the stairwell completion was a given a high priority. Once complete, I had but to build the stairway, but then winter set in. Once spring arrived, and I was once again stumbling into and out of the basement, I remembered exactly why I had spent so much effort on the stairwell. So, on to the stair building. It's a complicated affair, that of stair building. But properly motivated, it was quickly completed and now I can easily enter and exit my work area around our basement dig.
