Day 1,310 of the Adventure
Yesterday, I was writing about the quest for becoming self-sufficient from "Outside Forces". Some of those forces being perhaps the weather, the government, the economy or anything else that might affect our ability to achieve greater self-independence. I had a first-hand encounter with that just this week. At least the part that dealt with the government and the economy. The frustrating part is that there was really no solution for it that didn't involve action on the part of the government and the economy. Here's my story.
We've been looking into creating a "Homestead and Off-grid" supply company. In the process of research, we felt that a sawmill would be a necessary investment for some small manufacturing ideas we had. In looking into them, we discovered there was a very high probability we could become dealers for a sawmill company. Enter the government and economy in the form of tariff negotiations. Due to pending tariff crisis, no companies are prepared to make any decisions on dealers, or for that matter, even sales at this point. So now, I'm in a holding pattern on at least anything that includes things made or even has parts manufactured overseas. The best laid plans are even dependent upon contrary outside forces.
