The Beginning of a Journey - May 6

Day 1,313 of the Adventure


Today we began a journey. A journey of 1,500 miles..... and then 1,500 miles back. The beginning of the journey was easily the most pleasant. I have vowed to not get into the details of the part from Memphis to Atlanta. Prior to all that was a familiar drive through the Arkansas Ozarks. A good portion of which we have travelled many times. Our trips southward, whether to Hot Springs to visit friends, or all the way to New Orleans to catch a cruise ship to some further destination is part of this familiar ritual. Conway being our first regularly scheduled stop. Why? It's home to a convenient IHOP restaurant for a breakfast. Our travel ritual also includes commentary on the various towns we encounter along the route. Snowball, Pickles Gap and Toad Suck are among our favorites. Arkansas has the familiarity of home and it's an easy place to travel through. Today, the road would turn left at Little Rock and send us across the country through Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and then into Georgia. Tomorrow, our travel list will extend to Florida and then ultimately into the Gulf of America! Brace yourselves for the journey!
