Day 1,370 of the Adventure
The summer kitchen is taking shape. (storm shelter below) We have not yet decided if our summer kitchen will be dedicated to just the canning and food preserving activities and cooking bigger meals. Or if it will actually be our normal kitchen, big enough to do everything. When we do canning now, it heats up the cabin and occasionally even sets off the CO2 detectors. Of course we open the windows, but in the summer, that lets even more heat in. Our new "summer kitchen" will actually be a four seasons room. It will just have a lot of windows and powered ventilation for when there's a lot going on in there. The house will be positioned to the far side of this room to the right, and there will be a door that can close it off from the rest of the house when canning and cooking things like 12 pies at a time! (I just threw out the 12 pies idea in case Shelley reads this!)
Carry On
Adventure Quote: “Pie is this durable thing that you can share with people. It's kind of homey and rustic and nostalgic without being some fancy, decorated confectionary.” ―
