A Little Prudence and Precaution - August 11

Day 1,410 of the Adventure


If you didn't know what this is, you wouldn't know what this is. What this is.... is... a deck building detail to avoid having water getting up against the siding of the house. There are ways of doing this differently, but, when using log siding, like we are partial of doing, I just gave up on the flashing and sealing and all that other stuff. It's easier to just position the whole works far enough away from everything for it to not be an issue. The blocks are anchored into the concrete basement walls and will space everything far enough away from the house siding to simply find it's way to the ground and not spend any time in contact with the wood. (other than wood that's treated for weather) There will be more to see soon, and it will be easier to understand.
