Day 1,409 of the Adventure
We've been hampered just a little by the unrelenting heat lately, or at least our work schedule has been. The mornings are awesome, but they just don't last long enough. There's really only two parts of the equation that we have any control over and that is what time we get out of bed and what time we get started. I've been trying to get out by the time it's light enough to see what I'm doing. Usually, that means coming back to the cabin for a quick cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Then, thirty minutes or so later (sometimes 45 minutes) I'm back at it and before long, the sun is beating down on us once again. Today I tried something different that I personally didn't like at the time, but it did make a big difference in our productivity. I set my alarm for 5:30am. More than 45 minutes before sunrise. Had my coffee in the mostly dark back deck, listening to owls and whippoorwills, By the time it was light enough to see, I was ready to get at it. It worked great. Waking to an alarm clock intentionally has always gone against my personal morals and principles, but in this case, I'll be happy to make an exception.
