Day 1,408 of the Adventure
One of the final steps needed before backfilling the walls of the basement is to seal them. It's a messy job, but one that prevents any source of groundwater from seeping through the basement walls. Of course, this is just one precaution for that possibility. The fact that we drainage tiled the outside perimeter of the basement as well as under the concrete floor should prevent us from ever having a damp basement. The drainage tiles all run together and leave the house in a slightly downhill direction. It emerges out of the hillside down the hill from the back of the cabin. As we worked on it today, we were both in agreement that even though it's been a pain to do all of this, we believe it will have been worth it.
