January 20 - Resort Adventures - Week 3 In The Books

January 20, 2019
Day 20 - 345 Days to go
40 Days until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Fog (not that I drink much of it. It's the Decaf version of Lost on the Trail, but today would be a good day for it)

Another week has passed and in the books at the Resorts. The ominous winter storm that was to paralyze us this weekend has also passed. While the snow did not materialize in any significant way, it certainly did get cold. Slightly below 20 degrees if you can believe the weather ap on my phone. So..... even though we don't have to deal with snow and slick roads, we will have to take stock of any possible frozen water lines. This is not an issue at Cross Timbers or Rainbow Haven Resort or even the treehouses as we have cold weather protocols in place for that. The Black Bear Cabins is a different story since they are currently vacant without heat. They have been winterized to a point, but could still be somewhat vulnerable.

But today the sun is shining, It is almost back up to freezing and there are fishermen on the lake. I know because I have provided boat gas for them today. It is not uncommon to have people forget to install the drain plugs on their boats occasionally, and one of our customers did just that. Fortunately , they discovered it in time and made a quick trip back to the ramp to pull the boat out, drain it and install the plug. It was cold enough earlier to prevent their bilge pump from running so it was at least a little exciting for them for a minute.

I am determined to get the information on the Project X completed today. which means another day of tedium with spreadsheets and calculators. I suppose that these are part of the reasons why exciting projects often never get off the ground.  By the time they are imagined, planned, justified, analyzed, financialized (is that even a word?) and then proposed to a bank, sometimes the effort just doesn't seem to be worth it. Hopefully we will know in a few days!
