Day 8 - 357 Days to go
52 Days until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost up the Creek
Today was a blur. The only thing I know for sure today is that I'm finally done with the carpet install at the house. I guess that technically, the "House" doesn't have anything to do with "Resorts" other than when you see it, it looks like one of our resort cabins. It's a renovation project that started and then stopped when we bought our first bunch of cabins. It started again about a year and a half later then stopped again when we started building treehouses. It started up in late 2015 and then stopped again when we got the Rainbow Haven Resort. We started pushing it through late last Summer and are determined to get it finished this winter. (Now if I can keep the "Black Bear Cabins" from interfering, I think we'll be fine! The ultimate goal is to sell it and move on to something else. We've had this home since we moved to Missouri in 1993. Over 25 years is a long time, but it was a great home to raise our kids.
All of the news I received from the electrical utility company regarding the next bunch of cabins was good news. I me even start retrofitting them as early as tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. The work is mostly outside and the weather is starting to act a little more January-ish. So I may haul myself down to the wood shop and start building come cabin accessories. ……. OH and there's the leak in the water line in the laundromat. It never ends. OH..... and resetting the rescued Rock Buoy!. Neither of those two projects will take more than a few minutes though!
An interesting side note to the business side of things. Even though we haven't had very many guests so far this January. (We are really only a week into the month though) Still, we have almost surpassed the entire 2018 January income already. Most of that is due to boat fuel and LP sales. A little from the tackle shop and coffee. I guess even the small things add up in the slow months.
AN interesting side note as to the business
