January 7 - Resort Adventures

January 7, 2019

Day 7 - 358 Days to go
53 Days until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Highlander Grogg

I had a busy day at the Resorts today. Some of it by design, but most of it just randomly happened. INCLUDING the "Saving of the Rock Buoy - Part II". I have got to have the most unruly, renegade of a Rock Buoy known to man. My friend Joe sent me a message saying that it was hanging out in a corner of his dock. No doubt wishing to remain unseen and incognito. Not sure where it thought it was going but it didn't get far! One other time a couple years ago it tried to escape but could not break it's tether. With the help of Craig and Tom, we managed to rescue it back then. It was such a monumental effort that I memorialized it in a poem called "The Saving of the Rock Buoy"

I met with utilities engineers this morning to look at the new batch of cabins for streamlining some of the electrical service there. As we move forward with some clean up and planning, I am starting to get a pretty good feel about the potential there. We have run several cabins there in the past as nightly rentals. We had a buyer for it for the past two years that decided to rent them as monthly. Neither way is necessarily good or bad. We have historically made the main part of our business monthly residential housing. In some ways though, it's kind of a shame to have cabins so close to one of the best fishing lakes in the country and not make them available to vacation guests. So we will be trying to figure out which will be the best way to proceed between now and Spring.

Finally, what looked to be a dead end on our "Project X" got slightly resuscitated today by surprise. Still not sure if it's going to work. It's an uphill battle that has A LOT of moving parts. Exactly the kind of thing that entrepreneurs live for. As long as you can survive the anxiety of it anyway!

Never a dull moment at the Resorts!

The Adventure Continues!
