Day 38 - 327 Days to go
22 Days until March 1
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost in the Woods (Colombia/Costa Rica)
Todays Adventure began in the middle of the night with tornado sirens, lightning and thunder, rain, freezing rain and then snow and wind. That was just about enough adventure for the whole day before seven in the morning. I understood it to be even more severe to the north of us. About 6am, I began to be concerned whether there were any tree limbs down at our Ozark house. Which wouldn't have normally been a concern except it was the second full day of real estate showings there and tree limbs everywhere wouldn't do much for the appearance. so by 7am, I was on the road to Ozark to check it out. As it turned out, everything was fine and in order.
I finally got electricity into the main house at the Black Bear Cabins yesterday and that felt good. With the cold weather moving in today, it really needed some heat and getting the power back on made that possible. We are still unsure of the ultimate direction we will take with those cabins. part of me wants to get another bunch of nightly cabins going in town. Part of me wants to simply put a couple of tenants in them and leave most of them empty (for now anyway) Part of me would prefer to just sell them in the spirit of "Seeds" for someone else's "Resort Adventure". I suppose the plan will come together eventually.
This time of year we mainly get pushed in whichever direction needs attention. The cold has a lot to do with that. A few years ago I wrote a short article about our strategic use of heat tapes around the resorts. It was called "Heat Tapes I Have Known". You may find it humorous. The trouble is that even though it was written from a humor point of view, it's all based in truth. …….. Just part of the Adventure!
“For an occurrence to become an adventure, it is necessary and sufficient for one to recount it.”
