May 10 - Resort Adventures

May 10, 2019
Day 130 - 235 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Highlander Grogg (Butterscotch/Rum flavor)

The short story on our resort business is that we originally never planned to be in the resort business. We bought our first bunch of cabins (Cross Timbers Cabins) as a private family project and really only meant for them to be used by family and friends. As we worked on them, we kept getting people stopping in wanting to rent them...… and the rest is history. With our kids, the ones we really meant for them to be used by, they never much came around. They were either too far away to get here that often, or too close for them to be a true get away. However, now that we are eight years into the projects and four resort properties later......NOW, they actually show up occasionally and actually use them. Our son has especially discovered the benefits of a "Family Resort Business". Particularly the Marina and Boats. He has begun to become quite familiar with the boats and the lake and finally, the fish. He caught this one yesterday and now that he has a feel for what landing a 6 pounder is like, I have no doubt we'll be seeing even more of him. Or at least of him leaving the dock in one of the boats. Perks of the family business, I guess!

We spent all morning at the treehouses today conducting our semi-annual partner meeting. I love the getting together part of it, even though it's always all business. The final decision is to keep building!

The Last Resort Project: Back burner again today, however, I have recruited a couple of young and talented men to begin working the project with me so I fully expect before the weekend is over, we will start seeing a bit more rapid changes.

Curiosity is the search for the things that can be, it is the inspiration of the true adventurer.”
