Day 143 - 222 Days to go
Base Camp Coffee of the Day: Lost on the Trail (Guatemala)
Today was the first real "Summer Season" day of the year for us. It started around 7am with getting boats ready and didn't end until midnight when we got back from the treehouses. So let me explain how that worked. Boats out in the morning is fairly routine for the summer. Everyone wants out early. Then there is the pool stuff to do and the in and out traffic at the tackle shop. Yesterday was several check-ins and calls for reservations. All the while we were trying to organize the day around getting closed up by 4:30 in order to head over to the campground where a big Pot Luck evening meal and music until...…… Who knows when.
As it turned out, the organized music ended around 11:15 but when we left, it was still going on in an impromptu fashion around the fire pit and playground area. This is our annual gathering of the competition bands from the Bluegrass contest at Silver Dollar City. Every year for the last four years, bands have been showing up the Thursday night before the contest and performing in front of our campground guests as a last minute rehearsal prior to the contest. The first year we had five bands, this year we were up to nineteen bands.
The Last Resort Project: The scrambling around didn't leave any time for the Last Resort today.
